Gerald Hudson, O.F.M., 67 years of age, a pastoral associate at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Camden, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 2.  "Br. Jerry" as he was known to all had been at St. Anthony's since September, 2006 and was involved in many ministries, most notably CCOP (Camden Churches Organized for People) and St. Anthony's Community Garden.  Br. Jerry visited the sick and homebound, performed wake services, helped with parish maintenance, and on occasion served as a substitute teacher at St. Anthony of Padua School.  His biggest passions were for speaking out on behalf of the poor and marginalized, and gardening.  He cared for the gardens around the St. Anthony of Padua Friary, and worked with the Camden Children's Garden to make St. Anthony's Community Garden one of the most successful in the city, helping transform that part of Cramer Hill into an oasis of beauty, joy and hope.   He was the devoted father to his adopted son, Juan Rodriguez; dear brother of Carol Taggart, Phyllis Hadaller, Douglas, Boyd and the late Bob Hudson; Also survived by 4 nieces and 3 nephews.   Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM and on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, 2818 River Road in Camden where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM.  Interment will take place privately.  If desired, memorial donations in Brother Jerry's name may be made to Camden Churches Organized for People, 2770 Federal Street, Camden, NJ 08105 OR to the Camden Children's Garden, 3 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ 08103.
