Obituary of Joseph Bakaj
Joseph Bakaj, age 59 years of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025.
Joe Bakaj was a gifted and passionate musician whose talent brought joy to all who heard his music. Skilled in piano, bass guitar, and drums, he spent his life immersed in the rhythm of sound, playing the bass guitar player in the band Lover of the Bayou and exploring the vast world of music across all genres. Music was not just a passion for Joe; it was an expression of his vibrant soul.
Beyond his musical talents, Joe was a devoted sports fan, with a particular love for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he found joy in many things—especially his travels. Whether it was the serene beauty of Hawaii or the warmth of Florida, these destinations held a special place in his heart.
Joe's love for his family was just as deep. He was a successful businessman and a cherished brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his brother, Edwin Bakaj, and sisters Emeline Briley, Nadine Bouton (William), and Susan Nelan (Raymond), along with his beloved nieces and nephew: Matthew Bouton (Su Yala), Angela Bouton, Malia Nelan, Sara Briley, Christie Briley, and grand-niece Namira Bouton. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Bakaj, his mother, Joan Bakaj, and his sisters, Maryann and Jill Bakaj.
Joe's kindness, warmth, and uplifting spirit will be profoundly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. His memory will live on in the melodies he shared, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. Though he is no longer with us, Joe's legacy remains alive in the hearts of his family and friends.
