Obituary of John O. Garner
John O. Garner, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, supportive brother, a cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend to many.
Born May 20th, 1951, in Birmingham Alabama, to Mildred Smith and Johnny Bush Jr. John lived a life filled with so much love and laughter. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his story- telling, sense of humor, compassion, and kindness.
At the age of 12 he moved to Philadelphia, PA. He was educated in the Philadelphia school system. After high school he enlisted into the military, serving during the Vietnam era. John served in several military branches, 3D Marine Division, The Armed Forces of The United States. He worked for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard as a Supervisor Supply Clerk.
John joined King David Lodge #48 in 1975 in Norfolk, Va. He received his 3rd degree of Master Mason in January 1976. He joined Babylon Lodge #94 in 2009 and he remained a 3rd degree Master Mason until this day. During his time in Masonry, he held many positions in the Lodge and worked on many charities.
John had a passion for being in the kitchen that led to several head chef positions. He approached every task with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
In his free time, John loved spending time with his family, friends, and most of all his beloved dog Jackson. He enjoyed watching WWE, Biblical movies, Mike & Molly, New York Undercover. He was a die-hard EAGLES fan. GO BIRDS!
John will deeply be missed by his beloved wife Sharon Garner, his mother Mildred, his children Lorraine, Kie, Yolanda (deceased), Tarana, Tanya, Aimee, Patrice, Darnell & June. His siblings’ Billy (deceased), Sandra, Eugene (deceased), Stanley, Andre, Wayne, Freddy (deceased), Lonnie and brother-in-law Al. He leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
John may have left this world, but his love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Masonic Service will be held at 10:30 am with religious service to follow immediately after. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
