Obituary of Carmelo Vargas
Carmelo "Carlos" Vargas, age 88 of Delran, passed away on April 1, 2025 at Virtua Hospital in Willingboro. He was born on May 8, 1936 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico to the late Pedro and Margarita (nee Romero) Vargas.
Beloved husband of Sina (nee Camacho); Devoted father of Margaret, Carlos, Carolyn (Freddy), Jerry, Mark (Christina) and Carmelo Joseph; Loving grandfather of Denise, Pablo, Brittney and Joseph; Dear brother of Jose Luis and Theresa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved service dog Skyy.
Carlos was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was owner and operator of pharmacies in New York and then in Camden. He also was a bus operator for NJ Transit, retiring in 2000 after 15 years of service. He enjoyed sketching and painting, taking trips to Atlantic City, playing dice and craps and playing the piano.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 9:30 to 11 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 7 East Maple Avenue in Merchantville, where a Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
