Obituary of Luningning Nunez
In Loving Memory of Luningning Nunez
November 10, 1935 – April 1, 2025
With deep love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Luningning “Mama” Nunez on April 1, 2025 at the age of 89.
Born on November 10, 1935, in Daraga, Albay, Philippines, she was the cherished only daughter among six siblings—Emiliano Jr., Jose, Roberto, Melchor, and Horacio—each of whom she outlived. She grew up in a warm and loving household, attending St. Agnes Academy for her early education and later secretarial courses at the University of Santo Thomas.
She married the love of her life, Edistio Nunez and together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and generosity. A dedicated homemaker, she also played a steady role in assisting with the family business.
Her greatest joy, however, was found at home—especially in the kitchen, where she expressed her love through cooking and baking. Her garden was her sanctuary, and her hands were rarely still, whether tending to her plants or caring for her grandchildren.
She was a constant presence in the lives of those around her, offering kindness and unconditional love. After the passing of her beloved husband on June 8, 2020, she continued to be the heart of our family, embodying grace and resilience until the very end.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and treasured recipes that live on in our kitchens and in our hearts. She is survived by her children Rosanne, Lisa, Marissa, and Pauline, her grandchildren Chaz, Mary, Gabrielle, Philip, Caroline, Jonathan, and Izabel, and great granddaughter, Trinity.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Saturday, April 12 from Noon until 2 PM at the Church of St. Augustine, 250 North Fourth Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
