Obituary of Frances Lee Miller
Frances Lee Miller (née Grimley), of Merchantville, formerly of Delran, age 78, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Camden, New Jersey, the city where she was born on September 19, 1946. A devoted Catholic and beloved matriarch, Frances—known affectionately as Lee or Aunt Lee—lived a life defined by love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Lee’s heart belonged to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. "Bill" Miller Jr., and the devoted mother of Christopher Gross, Lisa (David) Kuhn, and Billy (Amy) Miller. Her role as “Mom” was one she embraced with unmatched energy and unconditional love. She was also the loving Mommom of Becky, Emily, David, Matthew, Michael, Brady, and Ace—each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
She shared a close bond with her siblings: dear sister of Chris Scharle' (late Rich) and Chuck (Marian) Grimley. Lee’s warmth extended to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Lee was a proud graduate of Christ the King Regional School Grammar School and Camden Catholic High School. Her deep-rooted faith guided her throughout her life, and she was a faithful parishioner and eucharistic minister at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Cinnaminson. Her devotion to the Church was not only spiritual but also active; she served with humility and joy, embodying the values she held dear.
Lee always said her greatest accomplishments in life were her three children; however, Lee had two other major accomplishments. Lee was the FIRST Surrogate on the East Coast in 1982. Lee gave birth to a 9-pound, 2-ounce baby girl on December 27, 1982, for a Connecticut couple who could not have children. Lee’s family still to this day refers to the baby as “Baby Girl”. The Second one being, Lee was the first Woman President of the Delran Athletic Association. Lee held that position for many years making sure the children who loved to play sports had the best equipment and the nicest fields to play on.
For over 45 years, Lee dedicated herself to nurturing children as an in-home nanny and later as a private caregiver. Her work was more than a profession—it was a calling that reflected her boundless compassion and innate ability to make every child feel cherished. Her love for children extended beyond her career; it was evident in every moment she spent with her own family.
Lee had a zest for life that radiated through everything she did. Whether watching Dr. Pol or spending time surrounded by those she loved most, she brought light into every room she entered. Her home was always open; her arms always welcoming.
To know Lee was to know what it meant to be truly cared for. She offered unwavering support to those around her and lived each day with purpose and grace. Her love defined what family truly meant—she was the heart of the family—and her legacy will live on in the lives she so deeply touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 8:45-9:45 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Charles Borromeo, 2500 Branch Pike in Cinnaminson. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
