Obituary of Thomas E. Tirrell
Thomas E. Tirrell, age 90 years, of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 22, 1934 in Newark, NJ to the late Robert and Elizabeth Tirrell (nee Hanlon)
Beloved husband of the late Carol M. Tirrell (nee Miele). Devoted father of Elizabeth Mazzeo (Lawrence), Matthew Tirrell (Elizabeth), and Jane Silvi (Jerry). Loving grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 6. Dear brother of Kathryn “Renee” Rafalko and Mary Jane Moran. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Prior to retirement, Tom was employed as a sales manager with Alabama Metals for over 30 years. He loved working in his yard and found great peace spending time out there. Tom cherished time spent with his family and always wanted to share his home with the ones he loved. He always made sure to teach the younger generations about life and all the knowledge he had.
Tom had a deep passion for boating and being out on the water. The second home he built with his own two hands on Lake Wallenpaupack, PA was more than just a home. It was his dream to have a place where he could bring family and friends together, a place where summer days stretched long with boat rides, bonfires, and stories that grew better with each telling. Tom made sure the lake was always a place where memories were made.
Though the lake is quieter now and the yard a little stiller, the legacy Tom leaves behind is vibrant and enduring. His life was a steady current of love, laughter, and connection—and those who were lucky enough to know him will carry that with them always.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 9:30-11 AM at the Catholic Church of St. Mary’s, 2001 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 12 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
