Obituary of Ismael Martinez

Ismael Martinez, age 85 years of Pennsauken, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 14, 2025.

Beloved husband of Gladys (nee Torres).  Devoted father of Leticia Martinez, Madeline Cruz, Aida E. Castro, Grisel Ortiz, and Wanda I. Martinez.  Loving grandfather of Denise Perez, Cynthia Torres, Damaris Perez, Evelina G. Irizarry, Viviana Almodovar, Vanessa Gonzalez, Anthony A. Irizarry, Rosalee Gonzalez, and Yahaira Castro and great grandfather of 15.  Dear brother of Angel Luis, Olman, Efrain, Ruben, William, Hector, Quique, Adaris, Ramonita, Olga, Benita, Ada Iris, and the late Elba.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Ismael was a happy and giving man. For 63 beautiful years, he shared his life and morning coffee with the love of his life, Gladys.  Together, they built a home filled with music, laughter, and the comforting aroma of fresh coffee.

Ismael loved playing dominoes.  He enjoyed music and dance and could often be found shaking his maracas to his favorite tune.   

Family was everything to him. He was the proud patriarch of a large and loving family, always offering a steady hand, a listening ear, and a warm hug. His wisdom, kindness, and funny faces will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 9:30-11 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM.  Final disposition will take place privately.

Ismael Martínez, de 85 años de Pennsauken, anteriormente de Filadelfia, falleció pacíficamente en su casa rodeado de su familia el 14 de mayo de 2025.

Amado esposo de Gladys (nee Torres). Padre devoto de Leticia Martínez, Madeline Cruz, Aida E. Castro, Grisel Ortiz y Wanda I. Martínez. Abuelo amoroso de Denise Pérez, Cynthia Torres, Damaris Pérez, Evelina G. Irizarry, Viviana Almodóvar, Vanessa González, Anthony A. Irizarry, Rosalee González y Yahaira Castro y 15 bisnietos. Querido hermano de Angel Luis, Olman, Efrain, Rubén, William, Héctor, Quique, Adaris, Ramonita, Olga, Benita, Ada Iris y el difunto Elba. También sobrevivieron muchas sobrinas y sobrinos amorosos.

Ismael era un hombre feliz y generoso. Durante 63 hermosos años, compartió su vida y el café de la mañana con el amor de su vida, Gladys. Juntos, construyeron una casa llena de música, risas y el reconfortante aroma del café recién hecho.

A Ismael le encantaba jugar al dominó. Disfrutaba de la música y el baile y a menudo se le podía encontrar agitando sus maracas con su melodía favorita.

La familia lo era todo para él. Era el orgulloso patriarca de una familia grande y amorosa, siempre ofreciendo una mano firme, un oído atento y un cálido abrazo. Su sabiduría, amabilidad y caras divertidas serán profundamente extrañadas y recordadas para siempre.

Familiares y amigos están invitados a la Visitación y Funeral el viernes 23 de mayo de 2025 de 9:30 a 11 a.m. en la funeraria Falco/Caruso y Leonard Pennsauken, 6600 N. Browning Road, donde se celebrará un servicio funerario a las 11 a. m. La disposición final se llevará a cabo de forma privada.
