Obituary of Monserrate Hicks

Monserrate Hicks (nee Suarez), age 84 of Camden, passed away on July 2, 2025 at Cooper Medical Center in Camden.  She was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico on September 7, 1940 to the late Santiago Suarez and Aurelia (nee Feliciano).

Beloved wife of the late Juan; Devoted mother of Marilyn Lugo, Lidia M. Lugo, Zoraida Applewhite, Estela Rivera and the late Nydia M. Lugo and Jose A. Irizarry; Loving grandmother of 14, great grandmother of 28 and great great grandmother of 26; Dear sister of Zoe, Genoveva, Fernando and Esteban Suarez.

Monserrate was extremely dedicated to her faith, and loved attending church when able, helping to fundraise through cooking meals, singing hymns and playing Christian music.  She also enjoyed passing the time by doing crossword puzzles or playing games on her tablet.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Tuesday, July 15 from 9 to 11 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Camden Funeral Home, 3425 River Avenue, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden.
