Obituary of Gerald C. Knight Jr.

Gerald C. Knight, Jr., age 89 of Mount Laurel, formerly of Pennsauken, passed away on July 6, 2025 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, New Jersey.  He was born on October 27, 1935 at home on Highland Avenue in Pennsauken to the late Gerald C. Sr. and Anna (nee Sheppard) Knight.

Beloved life partner of Scott Funk; Dear brother of Keith (Anne) and the late Gordon and Kenneth (late Patricia) Knight; Cherished uncle of Scott Knight, Colleen Albright (Tyler), Brian Protich (late Kathleen) and Kristina Parsons (Dutch) and great uncle of Raegan Anne Albright and Andrew, Joshua and Zachary Parsons.

Jerry began his service to the Highland Fire Company as a teenager on the junior brigade and attained his full membership at age 18.  In January of 1959 at the age of 23, he was elected chief of Highland and served in that capacity for 30 years concluding in January of 1989.  During that time, he also served in rotating one year terms as chief of the Pennsauken Fire Department.

In 1959, Jerry joined the United States Army National Guard and then transferred into the Army until the end of his enlistment in 1964.

He was employed at Masson Buick in Camden and Cherry Hill in their parts department from 1954 until the sale of the business in 1989.  He began a second career as a bus driver with Safety Bus in Pennsauken and then later with Dillon's Tour Buses.  He retired to Florida, and then returned to New Jersey, residing in Mount Laurel up until his passing.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Saturday, July 12 from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 North Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM.  Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum in Cherry Hill.
