Obituary of Ismael Cabrera
Ismael Cabrera, age 74 of Camden, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lares, Puerto Rico on June 4, 1951 to the late Bernabe and Antonia (nee Molina) Cabrera.
Beloved husband of Carmen Cabrera; Devoted father of Luz Cabrera (Carlos Zelaya), Ismael Cabrera (Damariz), and Cristina Cabrera (Juan Carlos Olivos); Cherished grandfather of Louis, Ismael, Cassandra, Alexander, Giovanni, Maya, and Camila; also loved by his only great grandchild Violet; Dear brother of Milagros, Minerva, William, Anibal, Gloria, Ruben, Bernabe, Carlos, and Olga. Predeceased by his siblings, Jaime, Luis and Dominic and his parents Bernabe Cabrera and Antonia Cabrera (nee Molina); Survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He will be remembered as a man of many talents and an even bigger heart. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cooking meals that brought the family together, tackling DIY projects around the house, and staying active through exercise. He had a deep love for magic, always delighting those around him with a sense of wonder and fun.
More than anything, he cherished family. Whether hosting a gathering or simply enjoying quiet moments with loved ones, he made sure everyone felt welcomed, connected, and cared for. His love extended beyond people; he had profound empathy for animals, often tending to the hurt and helpless with gentle hands and a caring heart.
He proudly worked as a waiter at The Pub in Pennsauken for over 40 years, where his dedication and charm left a lasting impression on everyone he served. Beloved by both coworkers and customers, he often went above and beyond—sometimes even entertaining guests with a magic trick or two, making each visit special.
His legacy lives on in the kindness he shared, the laughter he sparked, and the memories he helped create.
