Obituary of Esther M. Acevedo

Esther M. Acevedo (nee Alvarez), age 83 years of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 22, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Rafael Acevedo Quinones. Devoted mother of Jose R. Acevedo (Marilyn Santiago) and Melissa Acevedo (Cristopher Llane). Loving grandmother of Pedro Jose Acevedo, Natalia Llane, and Giovanni Arroyo and great grandmother of Avalynn, Gianna, Avian, and Emma. Dear sister of Ray, Sonia, Lucia, and Irma. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Prior to retirement in 2002, Esther was employed as a case worker for the State of Pennsylvania for 25 years. She was a hardworking woman, who dedicated herself to her family and community with unwavering strength and compassion. Her home was always open, her kitchen always warm — especially on Sundays, when the smell of her home-cooked meals filled the air and her loved ones gathered around her table.

In her spare time, Esther found joy in simple pleasures. She loved visiting the casino for a bit of fun and luck, and found deep fulfillment in giving back by feeding the homeless. She was known to strike up a conversation with just about anyone — friendly, talkative, and always ready with heartfelt advice that somehow felt like exactly what you needed to hear.

Esther had a deep love for music and dancing.  She enjoyed a good cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other and had a sweet tooth she never tried to hide, and a laugh that made even the hardest days feel lighter.

Family was everything to Esther. She cherished every moment spent with those she loved, and her presence brought people together in the most genuine way. She welcomed all with open arms, a warm heart, and a plate of something delicious.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 9:30-11 AM at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Camden Funeral Home, 3425 River Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
