Marguerite Morgan

Obituary of Marguerite J. Morgan

Marguerite Judith Morgan, affectionately known as “Cha-Cha,” passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Somerdale, New Jersey, at the age of 78. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 8, 1947, Marguerite was the fourth of five children born to the late Jethro C. Morgan Sr. and Emma Lou Hobbs-Morgan. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Jethro and Staycee Morgan.

Marguerite was a proud product of the Philadelphia public school system, attending John F. Reynolds Elementary, Vaux Junior High, and Simon Gratz High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in human resources—an achievement that reflected her deep commitment to personal growth and service.

Her professional journey began at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Defense Personnel Supply Center (DPSC) in South Philadelphia, where she contributed to the production of military uniforms. She later transferred to the Naval Support Activity (NSA) on Robbins Avenue, where she played a vital role in supplying our nation’s military and government partners with essential materials—from food and pharmaceuticals to construction equipment and textiles. While providing important services, she developed many lifelong friendships while at DPSC/DLA. Her work was a quiet but powerful testament to her patriotism and dedication, providing 29 years of civilian service with the US military.

Marguerite’s vibrant spirit lit up every room she entered. A passionate dancer, she was known for her love of the “Cha-Cha” and her skillful “Bop” moves—always finding her way to the center of the dance floor. Her joy was infectious, and her laughter unforgettable.

She had a gifted green thumb, cultivating lush indoor plants and transforming her backyard into a sanctuary of beauty and peace. Gardening was not just a hobby—it was her way of nurturing life and creating serenity for those she loved.

She was an experienced seamstress, she loved to sew, making many outfits for her children especially during Easter, graduations and proms seasons.

She was a proud member of the Red Hatters; a group of spirited women whose friendship and camaraderie brought her immense joy.

Marguerite’s life was a dance of grace, strength, and generosity. She will be deeply missed, but her rhythm lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Marguerite leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her son Kenneth B. Morgan (Barbara), daughters Roslyn Morgan-Hill (Frank) and Marguerite J. Morgan, who was her faithful caregiver, and her nephew-son Staycee Morgan. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren, Taja A. Morgan and Jordan G. Hill, and her great-granddaughter Chandler Morgan. She is also survived by her sister Dawn L. Morgan, brother Michael Morgan, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
