Obituary of Robert R. Bailey

Robert “Bob” Bailey, 70, of Woodstown, New Jersey, formerly of Cherry Hill, passed away at home on January 13, 2026.

Bob was born on July 9, 1955 in Camden, New Jersey, to the late Robert “Bob” and Jean (nee Persechino) Bailey. He was the elder brother of Jeff Bailey (Cathie) and David Bailey (Theresa). 

Bob was a devoted father to Tyler Bailey (Valerie), Jordan Bailey (Andrew), and Madison Bobbitt (Bill), whom he shared with former wife Karen Muracco. He was a one-of-a-kind Poppy to nine grandchildren who adored him: Savannah, Bo, Lane, Billie, Louisa, Finn, Jack, Bobby, and Lucy. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

For 40 years, Bob was a loving father who showed up without fail. He never missed a weekend with his kids and was a constant presence on the sidelines of their sporting events, and later his grandchildren’s. 

One of Bob’s greatest gifts to his children was his love of music. He proudly introduced them to live music at a young age, a joy they continued to share together into adulthood. His home was always filled with the bands he loved, so many houseplants, and a few home improvement projects in progress. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, and his children knew they could always count on him to pick up the phone to get them out of a jam or troubleshoot a broken something or other from afar. 

He was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and loved to read. He was an avid gardener, took great pride in his landscaping, and his home was always welcome to his kids' friends (as long as they didn’t drive on his lawn). He never missed a chance to make his kids laugh with stories of his hijinks as a young man, and shared his love of National Parks with them on their “Funky Cabin Tour.” 

His grandchildren loved visiting Poppy’s house, where he’d treat them to strawberries and cookies and happily play a hand or two of Go Fish.

Bob attended Cherry Hill West High School, where he was a three-season athlete. After graduation he hitchhiked west, an adventure he loved to retell, and landed in Boulder, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado and spent time building houses in Breckenridge and skiing the back of Peak 9 before returning to New Jersey. 

Back home, Bob followed in his father’s footsteps and joined Boilermakers Local 13. A proud union man, he worked for many local contractors as a project manager and took deep pride in his trade and brotherhood.

In retirement, Bob pursued another passion: golf. He spent countless days on the course and loved traveling to play courses around the country.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 9-11am at Falco, Caruso, & Leonard Funeral Home in Pennsauken, NJ. A Boilermarkers ritual to honor their brother will be held at 11am, followed by a service. Interment will take place immediately after Lawnside Cemetery in Pilesgrove, NJ.
