Obituary of Rosa Ethel Vega

Rosa E. Vega, age 96 years of Camden, passed away on January 30, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Rosa Esthel Vega was born on August 26, 1929, in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico. She lived a life defined by joy, strength, and an open heart, always centered on her love for family and community.

In 1968, Rosa moved to New York, where she spent 30 years building a home full of tradition and care. She later relocated to New Jersey, where she lived the remainder of her life. Rosa spent 50 years living on 4th Street in Camden, where she became a beloved fixture on the block, known by neighbors and friends alike.

Rosa was always happy and especially loved having visitors in her home. Her door—and her heart—were always open. She had a passion for cooking and was well known for her delicious pasteles and homemade sofrito. She was truly the reina del café, famous for making the best cup of coffee, always ready to be shared. Rosa also loved to dance, with bachata as her favorite music, filling her home with rhythm, laughter, and life.

Rosa was preceded in death by her son, Angel (Dario) Vega.

She is survived by her loving children: Elsie Acosta (the late Edwin Ortiz); Milagros Acosta (Santo); Heriberto Vega (Rosin); Carmen Castro; Mariano Vega (Carmen); and Alberto Vega (Ernestine). Also Reynaldo Acevedo whom she loved as a son. She also leaves behind 25 cherished grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Rosa will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her generosity, and the love she poured into everyone who crossed her path. Her legacy lives on in the meals she cooked, the coffee she brewed, the music she danced to, and the home where everyone was always welcome.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 9-11 AM at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will be held by 11 AM. Interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden.
