Obituary of Luciano Villafañe

Luciano Villafañe, age 91 years of Woodlynne, formerly of Camden, passed away on April 1, 2026.

Beloved husband of Ediberta (nee Medina) of 68 years. Devoted father of Nancy Velez (Angel Jr.), Monserrate Martinez (Edwin), and Norma Ruiz (Julio). Loving grandfather of David (Melanie), Vanessa, Edwin (Joy), Matthew (Jackie), Luis (Jocelyn), Eric (Jasmine), Devin (Jamie), and Victoria (Lucas). Cherished great grandfather of Neela, Samara, Ana, Elijah, Elliott, Luis Angel, Jr., Micaela, Gabriel, Luciano, and Isabella.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
 
Luciano was born January 13, 1935 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Santiago and Eduvijes Villafañe (nee Flores) and was the third child of 25 siblings. He spent his early years working in farming and landscaping, later retiring as a lead crew man at Cherry Hill High School West. Luciano was a true handyman who took pride in fixing and building whatever was needed.

Outside of work, Luciano found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved music, playing dominoes, bowling, and cheering on the Phillies. 

Luciano was a devoted parishioner initially at Our Lady of Fatima Church which has since been merged with the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He was a God-fearing man who generously gave of his time, coaching softball for the Our Lady of Fatima Youth Group, participating in the Holy Name Society, and remaining active in the Cursillo Movement.

Luciano will be remembered for his strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 8:15-9:15 AM at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Concepcion, 642 Market Street in Camden. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Concepcion at the above address.
