Obituary of Alma E. Reece

Alma Earnestine Reece, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Pennsauken, New Jersey, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Born on April 24, 1935, in Kimbia along the Berbice River in Guyana, Alma was the beloved daughter of Cyril and Lovelia Barker and was a sibling to 5 brothers and sisters.

On Nov 4, 1952, Alma married Thomas Reece, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in dedication, resilience, and family. Together they raised twelve children: Patrick, Leslyn, Keto, Aubrey, Noel, Shireen, Desmond, Verone, Charmain, Thomas, Norman, and Eliso. Alma’s legacy continues through her loving family, including her sister Laura, ten surviving children, fifty‑five grandchildren, fifty‑eight great‑grandchildren, and two great‑great‑grandchildren.

When Alma first came to the United States she worked as a nanny demonstrating early on her nurturing spirit and strong work ethic. She later dedicated more than ten years of service as a nurse at Aria Nursing Home. Determined and hardworking, Alma earned her driver’s license at the age of 70, purchased a home, and pursued her nursing certification to further her medical career, embodying perseverance and lifelong ambition.

Alma was a woman of warmth, talent, and deep love for others. She found great joy in music and was known for her beautiful singing voice and piano playing. Whether through song or smile, Alma had a remarkable ability to light up a room and lift the spirits of those around her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to family will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

Alma Earnestine Reece lived a life rich in love, service, faith, and family. Her memory will remain alive in the hearts of generations who were blessed to call her mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, aunt, and friend.

A memorial service celebrating Alma’s life will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Falco, Caruso, and Leonard Funeral Homes located at 6600 N. Browing Road, Pennsauken, NJ 08109. Viewing will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00pm.  The burial will be at Arlington Cemetery – 1620 Cove Road, Pennsauken NJ, 08110.
