Obituary of Leah E. Halloran

Leah Elizabeth Halloran (née Garber) passed away peacefully at age 80 on May 4, 2026 after a long illness. Leah was born on August 10, 1945 to the late John and Maryellen (nee Miller) Garber, and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. She lived in Pennsauken, NJ since 1979.

Leah engaged in many local activities over several decades, including the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School PTA, the Girl Scouts, and the Pennsauken High School Apache Band Boosters, where she cultivated a circle of dear friends who held her close until the end of her life.

A 1963 graduate of Mastbaum High School, Leah was employed by the former Philadelphia National Bank from the mid-1960s through the early-1980s. She spent the remainder of her working life as a claims service assistant for State Farm Insurance claims offices in Pennsauken, Marlton, and Runnemede, NJ.

Leah was a talented visual artist who worked in pencil, charcoal, and pastels, as well as a keen crafter, baker, cake decorator, seamstress, crochet artist, and creator of beautiful crafts. She loved music, dancing, theater, old movies, animals, and people, and she was the consummate hostess of countless parties and get-togethers for her family and friends.

Leah is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Charles, her daughter Susan Barry of Oaklyn, NJ, her son Erik Halloran of Bensalem, PA, and a close network of extended family members, friends, caretakers, and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Ellen (née Miller) Garber, and her brother John Robert (Bobby) Garber.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 9 am until 11 am, with service at 11 am, at Falco, Caruso & Leonard Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Rd., Pennsauken, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Leah’s family welcomes donations in her memory to the ASPCA.
