Chona Verceles

Obituary of Chona S. Verceles

Chona S. Verceles (nee Sacdalan), age 79 of Piscataway and Scotch Plains, passed away on May 26, 2026.  She was born in Malolos City, Bulacan, Philippines on July 1, 1946 to the late Arsenio and Eugenia Sacdalan.

Devoted mother of Russell Verceles, Randell Verceles (Leah) and Richelle Diaz (Kevin); Loving grandmother of Angelina Reed (Prince), Justin Verceles, Kaleb Goldilla, Violet Goldilla and Nicole Garay and great grandmother of Phenix Reed, Khaleesi Reed, Adaline Vanderbilt and Kheelan Vanderbilt; Dear sister of Maxima Erlinda Sacdalan.

Prior to her retirement, Chona was a career woman working in New York City for UNICEF - United Nations. In her younger years, she was a majorette who specialized in baton twirling in school. Traveling was one of her passions, especially to Canada, all over Europe and Las Vegas, and she loved sharing those experiences with the people she cared about. Chona also enjoyed going out shopping, dancing and listening to Spanish music.

Chona always carried herself with the grace of a queen, perfectly put-together with her signature red lipstick and manicured nails. Beneath that elegant exterior was an incredibly generous heart, always looking for ways to help anyone who needed it. She was a Mama to everyone, always welcoming friends and family into her home, and making sure everyone was fed and comfortable.
