Obituary of Gustavo E. Grana

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gustavo Enrique Grana Fábregas, age 43, who departed this life on June 20, 2026, in Camden, New Jersey. Born on August 21, 1982, in Castañer in Lares, Puerto Rico, Gustavo was raised surrounded by the warmth, culture, and close‑knit community of the island he loved so deeply. His Puerto Rican roots shaped his character, his values, and the joyful spirit he carried throughout his life.

Gustavo spent his childhood and early years in Puerto Rico before moving with his family to Lakeland, Florida, where he continued to grow, build friendships, and create new memories. He graduated from Lake Gibson High School in 2000 and later earned his Associate Degree. These experiences—both on the island and in Florida—helped form the compassionate, resilient, and vibrant man he became.
Gustavo is survived by his devoted parents, Dr. Gustavo and Mrs. Irma Grana, who loved him beyond measure. He leaves behind his cherished children—Carmen Angelica, Gustavo Armando, Gricet Marie, and Jamicia—all of whom were the light of his life. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Leticia Rivera, and his girlfriend, Dallas Perez.

He will be profoundly missed by his two sisters and his two brothers‑in‑law, Maittee Grana (John O’Connor) and Marimee Grana (Leif Cardwell), who held a special place in his heart. His beloved nieces and nephews—Mia, Nicolas, Pia, Lucas, Noah, and Gia (his precious goddaughter)—will forever carry his legacy of love, laughter, and joy. Gustavo is also survived by his grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and countless friends from near and far whose lives were brightened by his presence.

He is welcomed into Heaven by many loved ones, especially his baby girl, Maria Angelica, who went to be with the Lord at birth. We take comfort in knowing he is now holding her in his arms for eternity.

Gustavo worked at Cooper University Hospital as the Supervisor of Operations for Food Service, where he was deeply loved, respected, and cherished. In this role, he fulfilled his passion for helping others, making a positive impact on the lives of many through his dedication, kindness, and leadership.

Known for his immense love and vibrant spirit, Gustavo was the life of the party—bringing joy, humor, and warmth wherever he went. His infectious smile and his unique ability to make everyone feel special were gifts he shared generously.

A lifelong animal lover, Gustavo leaves behind several beloved cats and his trusted and beloved dog companion, Lola. His affection for animals mirrored his caring nature and the love he poured into the people around him.

Gustavo had a passion for fishing, the ocean, martial arts, wrestling, and scouting, proudly earning his Eagle Scout rank in 2000 with Troop 774 in Lakeland, Florida. These experiences instilled in him the values of discipline, perseverance, and leadership—qualities he carried throughout his life.

His passing serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life. Every hug, every laugh, and every shared moment is a precious gift. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Gustavo has left a void that can never be filled. We will miss his laughter, his kindness, and the light he brought into our lives.

A time to visit with Gustavo and his family will be held on August 1, 2026 at the Chapel from 10:15 AM to 10:50 AM, prior to the Service Mass at 11:00 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, located at 333 Terrace Way, Lakeland, FL 33813. 

Following the Mass, there will be a reception with refreshments and an opportunity for all who loved Gus to share memories, stories, and reflections in his honor.
