Obituary of Marguerite Mary Steigerwald

Marguerite Mary Steigerwald (nee Black) passed away on October 7, 2023 in Audubon, NJ. She was 94. Rita was the loving wife of the late Francis J. Steigerwald (2010). She is survived by her children Linda Smith (Tom) of Audubon, NJ, Doreen Brown (Jim) of Ambler, PA and Paul Steigerwald of Audubon, NJ. She was the proud grandmother of Jaclyn Ferguson (Scott), Danielle Behrens (Jonathan Bussey), Thomas Smith (Courtney), Jim Brown (Kaitlin), Molly Brown and Jack Brown. Beloved great-grandmother to Liam, Ada, Quinn, Roemi, Tommy, Nora and Lily.

Rita was born in Dublin, Ireland on December 18, 1928. She lived a life full of love, laughter and Irish lore. She met Francis in Dublin in 1955 and after marrying him, moved to the US. Her heart was never far away from her parents or her Ireland. She loved to sing, dance and read poetry. She was a knitter, crocheter and sewer extraordinaire. She loved her faith. She worked for Dr. Irving Eisenberg for over a decade, at Audubon Clover and was a bus aide for the Pennsauken School District. She touched many lives and was loved by all.

A viewing will be held at Falco, Caruso & Leonard Funeral Home, 6600 Browning Road, Pennsauken, NJ 08109, from 8:15-10:15am on Friday, October 20.  A Requiem mass for Rita will follow at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish (St. Johns Church) 90 Park Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108 at 11:00am. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
