Obituary of Lee Roy Jones

Lee Roy Jones, a loving son, brother, husband and father made his peaceful journey to heaven on December 31, 2023 in Voorhees, New Jersey. Lee was born the third child to the late Roman and Bessie Jones on March 6, 1933 in Swainsboro, Georgia.

At age 11, he and his family left Swainsboro and relocated to Rosenhayn, New Jersey. Lee attended the Rosenhayn and Bridgeton school system. After graduating from Bridgeton high school, he joined the Army during the height of the Korean War in 1952 where he served as a Paratrooper and a Heavy Weapons personnel. During his years of service he received these medals and accommodations: United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (Bronze Service Star), Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal and Two Overseas Bars.

During his time in Korea he answered the call of God. Upon returning home he became a minister under the tutelage of Reverend Davis at Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He continued in ministry throughout his life serving as an Elder at Institutional Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, New York. Also as a Pastor of Bryant Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In his later years he became a faithful member of Faith Holy Temple COGIC in Pennsauken, New Jersey

When he wasn't serving in ministry he worked as an electrical engineer for companies like Consolidated Edison in New York City, New York. He also served as an electrical engineer for over 20 years until his retirement at the Federal Aviation Administration.

Lee was able to accomplish all of this with his wife Selene by his side. Lee was married to the late Selene Williams for 64 years before her passing in 2019. From this union came 12 children, 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory: six sons, Percy (Grace), Terence (Carla), Maurice, Albert (Meridith), Roman and Ralph (Kathryn); his four daughters, LaVonne, Dolitha (Jason) Pilgrim, Javita and Precia (Luis) Reyes; two sisters, Anna Jones and Elsie Singleton, five sister-in-laws, Geneva Jones, Cynthia Jones, Marjorie Scott, Gladys Pierce and Naomi Luck; three brother-in-laws, James Singleton, David Williams and Arthur Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lee was received into eternal peace by his wife Selene, son Michael, daughter Velette and grandson Ralph Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 9-11 AM at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Interment will follow at Camden County Veterans Cemetery, Garden of Honor, 1640 Haddon Ave in Camden. Please wear masks at all times while inside the funeral home.
