Obituary of Edward Stanton

Edward "Lamont" Stanton, passed away on January 15, 2016 of Sicklerville, formerly of Camden. Age 74 years. Beloved husband Ilia (nee Horta). Devoted father of Rhonda and Brian Stanton and Juan, Johanna and Joaquin Garcia. Loving Poppop of 13 and great grandfather of 3. Dear brother of Barbaralena Miller, Charles Stanton, Grayson "Bussy" Stanton, Frances Stanton, Gary Stanton and Michael Stanton. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Prior to retirement, Mr. Stanton was employed at DiMedio Lime Company in Camden for 25 years. He played baseball for Camden High and after high school in the 8th Ward League and he also played men's softball for the Apollo Supper Club. His teammates say he was the hardest and best hitter in the league. Mr. Stanton was an avid sports fan and was a basketball official for many years for the YMCA church league as well as other local high school leagues. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Wednesday from 7-9 PM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road and on Thursday from 9-11 AM at St. John's Baptist Church, 400 N. 30th Street in Camden, where a Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden.
