Obituary of Domenic Bianco
Domenic J. Bianco, age 91 of Cherry Hill, passed away at Lutheran Crossings in Moorestown, New Jersey on January 20, 2016.
Beloved husband of the late Lorraine (nee Hodge) for 67 years; Devoted father of Carolyn (Bill) Marley, Linda (Steve) Stelmaszyk, Edward (Joyce) and the late Irene Bianco; Loving grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 2.
Domenic was born on August 31,1924 in Bridgeton, NJ and grew up in Philadelphia. As a child, he lived in the city during the winter and New Jersey in the summer, working on farms, where he developed his love of nature and animals of every kind.
He joined the Navy in 1944 as an aviation mechanic but, more importantly, played trumpet in a navy band at bases throughout New England. After the War, he worked for several companies in Philadelphia in rigging and millwrighting, even involved in moving the Liberty Bell! With a thirst for independence and a vast knowledge of his industry, Domenic started his own business, Industrial Millwrights, in 1973, where he was well known in the industry for innovative solutions to complicated machinery issues. There is hardly a factory in Philadelphia where he did not make his mark.
When not working, this skillful angler could frequently be found somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, deep sea fishing or in later years, surf fishing on the beach at 14th St, near his beloved second home in Beach Haven. A licensed captain and a fountain of knowledge about everything fishing, he was a mentor to many neophyte anglers over the years.
A Renaissance man always proud of his Italian heritage, he was a gifted cook and baker, creating meals that were enjoyed by his many friends and relatives. His lifelong love of music was expressed mostly in his trumpet playing but also in saxophone, trombone and a bit of piano. And his never ending curiosity and creativity gave us some beautiful mementos in creations in metal and wood, all from his little garage shop. Domenic was a man who could fix anything, make anything and considered every project a challenge.
He will be forever remembered for his tenacity, generosity and kindness to everyone he met and unbounded devotion to those he loved. He is already missed by his family and friends
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 North Browning Road.
