Obituary of Walter Cooks

Walter R. Cooks Sr., formerly of Camden, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016 in Delanco at 76 years. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Phillips), Devoted father of Walter (Cheryl) Cooks Jr., Denise (Chester) Bembery, Jeanine (Edward) Corbin , Sheila Thompson, Warren Cooks and Nicole Nance (niece/daughter); Loving grandfather of Jamal, Kareem, Damisi, Walter III, Edward, SharRon, Tenisha, David, Warren Jr., Sharida, Shante, Tonisha, B.L, and Leesa; Cherished great grandfather of Jocelyn, Arianna, Robert Jr., Apollo, Jayla, Layla, Aniya, Damisi Jr., Cheyenne, Quincy, Arianna, Mya, Zoe, Jamal Jr., Jeremy, Kareem Jr., Kahlia, Logan, Lamia and Jahni; Dear brother of Vivian, Joe, Julius, George and Charles "Honorary Brother". Predeceased by his parents Buster & Minnie Lee and siblings, Cliff, Roosevelt, Yvonne, Belinda and Robert. Also survived by a host of nieces & nephews. Prior to retirement, Walter worked as a foreman for many years with Certified Steel & Brussels Steel. His two favorite hobbies which he truly enjoyed were fishing and hunting. Relatives & friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Thursday from 9 to 11 AM at the GateKeepers Fellowship Church, 3600 Earle Avenue in Pennsauken. A Service will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden.
