Dear Kathy and Family So very sorry for your loss. Don was such a nice man. Always a smile. He always had a gentle way and a kind word. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this sad time. You are also grieving for your Mother (and grandmother) which makes this so difficult for all of you. Terri and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Witzig was my cross country coach at Cherry Hill East from 1979-1981. He encouraged me to join the cross country team. At my first practice, I was convinced that I was never going to make it 3 miles. That was so far for at 15 year old sprinter. When I was finished, Mr. Witzig told me that was only the warm up! It was Mr. Witzig's encouragement that got me through that first season. That was the beginning of a life long love of running. I enjoyed every minute that I was a part of Mr. Witzig's team. I will always remember him riding his bicycle from one group of runners to another keeping an eye on the team. I will dedicate my next three miles to Mr. Witzig. Please know that he touched so many. As I just came in from a long run this morning, I saw the obituary in the Inquirer. Mr. Witzig coached me at Cherry Hill East in Cross Country in 92 & 93. He recruited me to come out for the team after knowing that I was a good miler in Spring track in '91 & '92. As a result of his encouragment, I went on to run in College and almost 25 year later, I still run distances with a passion. Mr. Witzig had a huge influence on me and I am forever grateful. He was a very good man. I learned a lot from him and will never forget him. He is one person who certainly had a profound effect on me as person. My condolences to the family Dan Sturtz
