Obituary of Joseph J Cornaglia

Joseph James Cornaglia, age 89 of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, died suddenly on March 10, 2017 at JFK Hospital in Cherry Hill. He was born September 2, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest son of the late Victoria (nee Mergliano) and Alexander B. Cornaglia, and brother of the late Alexander B. Cornaglia Jr. Joe served our country in World War II and was stationed in occupied Japan. After the war, he became a bricklayer and enjoyed working at this trade into his late 70’s. He was a proud member of Local 1 Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Union. He married Rita (nee Luciani) on October 25, 1956 at our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Camden. They raised their family in Woodlynne and later moved to Cherry Hill, where he was a devoted member of the Christ Our Light Parish. Joe is survived by his wife Rita and their four children: Debra Cornaglia Joy and husband Michael of Scotch Plains, NJ; Teresa Cornaglia Macauley (husband Connie predeceased ) of Moorestown; Joseph J. Cornaglia and wife Susan of Cherry Hill; and Robert A. Cornaglia and wife Kim of Cherry Hill. He also leaves behind 10 loving grandchildren: Cristin, Alexandra, Cornelius, Madelaine, Mackenzie, Austin, Kayla, Ted, Chelsea and Felicia. Relatives and Friends are invited to the Visitation on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at the Catholic Community of Christ Our Light, 402 Kings Highway North in Cherry Hill. Entombment will be held immediately following Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in his name be designated to the charity of your choice.
