Apostle Samuel Hoggs founded and established The Christian Temple Assembly Church of God in 1962 with his wife and a few family members on the corner of 9th and Pine Streets in Camden, NJ. He was Founder, CEO and General Overseer of the church. This was the beginning of a great ministry in the city of Camden, and worldwide. The first person saved was a teenager (Lillie Johnson-Tyler) who is now the National Church Mother of the church. The Lord continued to save many young people throughout the city of Camden, and taking them off the streets and out of the prisons to learn how to live productive lives. He was a father to many, a mentor, and inspiration through preaching, teaching, Bible study/teaching, praying, singing, organizing choirs, camping and outings, and an example of faith, love and works. He was an advocate of unity. A gifted and anointed preacher and musician. Apostle Hoggs was called South Jersey's King of Strings in the 1960s and 70s due to his being talented and anointed in playing the guitar. He also played the piano, organ, trumpet and other instruments.
His ministry spanned throughout the eastern states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and even as far as Alaska and Canada. He built and pastored churches. Young people and older ones alike loved Apostle Hoggs and he loved them. One of his desires was to have a senior saints home, and he was inspired to build the Christian Care Center in Stephens, GA which consists of a Sanctuary, Senior Saints Home and Youth Summer Camp for Boys and Girls. He was a father and a mentor to many, as well as, an inspiration and touched lives everywhere, having faith and love; and was an advocate of unity. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He leaves his church family to cherish his memories from the great ministry God gave him.
