Obituary of John P Gotterup

Born October 8, 1928 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to John and Maria Gotterup, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather John Gotterup passed away on December 21, 2017 with his family by his side. John always said he had a good life.

Preceded in death by his parents John and Maria (Pakie) Gotterup, sister Bertha Gotterup, brothers Philip and Paul Gotterup. Beloved husband of Evelyn Gotterup.  He was the loving father of daughters Karen Gibbons (Dennis) of Cherry Hill, NJ and Theresa Brader (Mathew) of Blackwood, NJ. Dear grandfather of Ashley (Joseph), Caitlyn, Breana, Dennis, Erik and Daniel and great grandfather of Joey. He is survived by nephew Daniel Koszowski (Terry) and many nieces and nephews.

John was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, serving 4 years with the Army 11th Airborne. He worked for 42 years with RMP - Holman in Quality Control, Maintenance and Engineering. During the winter months, he enjoyed building airplanes. He also enjoyed working on Word Search books, reading, football season and was able to fix just about anything. During the spring and autumn, John loved to vacation in Cape May. He was a member of the Maple Shade Sportsmen's Club for over 30 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 North Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at the Church of St. Peter, 43 W. Maple Avenue in Merchantville. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chews Landing.
