Gus Passarella

Obituary of Gus F. Passarella

Gus F. Passarella, Jr., known to all who loved him as “Pops”, “Gussie”, “Herbie” and “Junior”, age 89 of Cherry Hill, formerly of Waterford Works, passed away on June 8, 2018 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, New Jersey.  He was born on November 19, 1928 to the late Florence and Gus Passarella Sr.

Beloved husband of 55 years of Rosemarie (nee Maloney); Devoted father of Sharon (Marc) D'Orazio, Angela (Lou) Pallante and Vince (Jayne) Passarella; Loving grandfather of Dominic, Joseph and Sofia; Dear brother of Anna Bombaro, Donald Passarella and the late Dorothy Lucca, Marie Mottola and Michaael Passarella.  He is also survived by his granddogs Duke, Eve and the late Tyler.

Mr. Passarella owned and operated his own business as an Excavator and Paver for many years.  Eventually, he would also seal driveways.  He enjoyed the outdoors, and liked to maintain his lawn when he wasn’t mowing down his wife’s rhododendron bushes.  He was also a retired member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society in Hammonton.

Gus’s greatest joy was his children and grandchildren and speaking proudly about them was one of his favorite things to do.  He loved his three children and was the best father-in-law to the men and woman who became part of his family – he was blessed to have them.  He also enjoyed watching the Phillies, professional wrestling, the Roller Derby and The Three Stooges; playing cards with his many friends, and going out to dinner at the Maplewood Inn, where he would enjoy their pasta and veal parmigiana.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Joan of Arc, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton, NJ 08053; where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM.  Entombment will follow at Berlin Cemetery in Berlin, NJ.  The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Joan of Arc Church at the above address in lieu of flowers.  Arrangements under the direction of Falco/Caruso & Leonard Funeral Homes.  Info, condolences and guestbook at www.carusocare.com
