Obituary of Robert James Kates

Robert James Kates, age 66, of Pennsauken, formerly of Camden, passed away on July 2, 2018.  Beloved husband of Charlene (nee Simkins) for 45 years.  Devoted father of Robert (Misty), Ryan and Jeffrey (Elizabeth).  Loving poppy of Alexus, Aiden, Austin and Addyson and great grandfather of Armani.  Dear brother of Myrtle Borodziuk.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert is predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister.

Robert was employed at Swisco in Camden for over 40 years.  He was also employed with Local 1360 Food Commercial Workers Association for 40 years, most recently working at Shoprite in Cherry Hill and Cinnaminson.  Robert enjoyed trips to Gettysburg and was a Civil War buff.  He liked movies, the snow and Christmas time was his favorite time of year.  Robert recently enjoyed travelling and taking many trips to Florida and other destinations with his son Rob and the grandkids.  Family was always most important, and he idolized his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet at 10:45 AM on Monday at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral, 6600 N. Browning Rd and line up to process to Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, where a graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
