Thomas Love

Obituary of Thomas A Love

Thomas A. Love, Sr., age 90 formerly of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the United Methodist Home at Collingswood. Born in Collingswood, NJ he was the son of the late John and Dorothy Love. He was the beloved husband of Joan (née Gideon). Tom and Joan were married for 60 years and lived in Pennsauken, NJ, where they raised their family. He was completely devoted to his family and was the loving father to Daniel (Kristin), Mary Beth (Bruce), and the late Thomas, Jr (Susan), grandchildren Sarah, Tyler, Emmalee, Stephen, Kevin, Elizabeth, Jeffrey, Shannon, Brad, Alec, and many loving nieces and nephews. A devout Catholic, Tom was an active member of St. Stephen's Parish in Pennsauken, where he was an usher at 9 AM mass for many years. He attended St. John's Elementary School, St. Joseph's Prep, and Georgetown University. Tom was known as "The Silver Fox" by many because of his distinctive white hair, but it was his kindness, friendliness, and witty sense of humor that everyone will remember most. Tom loved his country. He proudly served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army shortly after World War II. He worked hard to make a living as a steamfitter. Tom loved sports. It was a rare occasion for him to miss a Phillies, Eagles, or Notre Dame football game. You could frequently find Tom at the Jersey Shore, enjoying happy hour on the porch, probably singing a random Irish tune. But most importantly, Tom loved his family. He grew up in a large, loving family in Collingswood with many cousins he referred to as best friends. His children are lucky enough to still consider this extended family to be an integral part of their lives. Always committed, he rarely missed his grandchildren's games, meets, and dance recitals. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 Saturday at the Church of St. Stephen, 6300 Browning Road, Pennsauken, NJ 08109. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill. The family requests memorial donations be made to United Methodist Home at Collingswood, 460 Haddon Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108 OR to St. Stephen's Church at the above address.
