Obituary of Lillian Gilbert

Lillian Gilbert (Lily) was born on January 5, 1946 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Juan Gilbert and Rosa Roche and had 11 siblings. She came to live in New York when she was about 7 years old and after having children she eventually moved to New Jersey.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Lopez Ortiz; survived by her sister Nancy Sicardo, and her children Victor Conde (Barbara), Carolyn Conde (Jorge), Melissa Conde, Nancy Smith and Myra DeJesus (Cesar).  Lillian was a Loving grandmother to 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Lillian was employed at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ where she started in the Department of Housekeeping and quickly advanced to a Unit Secretary; in which position she ended her tenure. Prior to the development of her ailments, she lived in Northgate II, located in Camden, NJ, where she was loved and respected by many of her fellow residents and met the love of her life, Jose.

Some of her favorite hobbies included but were not limited to watching horror movies, playing cards, and cooking. But more than cooking, she enjoyed eating Jose’s cuisine.  Lily also took pleasure in the Home Shopping Network, QVC, and “As Seen on TV”. She and Jose would often spend time together ordering things and end up with an abundance of items they did not need.
