Born in Cambridge (Delran TWP) New Jersey, she was the sixth of eight children. Upon graduating  the Delran TWP. Public School System, she met and married Abraham Cummings.  From this  union four children were born,  Christie, Herman, Patricia, and Abraham Jr. After living in military housing the first few years of marriage, the family  settled  in Camden, New Jersey. Susan accepted Christ at an early age and at the time of her transition,  was a member of the Faith Chapel AMEZ Church in Mt. Holly, NJ under the pastorate of her grandson- in-law, The Reverend Norman Solomon.  She knew the Bible and loved the hymns of the church.  She could always be heard quoting scripture and singing hymns; her favorite being "Blessed Assurance." She also loved poetry, and upon request, would recite a poem or sing a solo for anyone who asked. She was preceded in death be her  husband,  Abraham Cummings, Sr.; three sisters, three brothers, and two granddaughters.  She leaves to cherish  many memories, two daughters; Rev. Christie L. Johnson (Reginald) and Patricia F. Cummings. Two sons; Herman  J. Lindsay and Zahir Ibrahim Muhammad aka Abraham Cummings, Jr. (Helima). Twelve grandchildren, eighteen great - grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.  She also leaves a sister, Dorothy Holmes; three sisters-in-law; Mrs. Algie L. Allen, Mrs. Vera Thompson, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Wilson; a special cousin and best friend, Mrs. Mary S. Huggins;  a special niece who  contributed much to her care and  comfort, Ms. Vicky Jones, and many other nieces, nephews cousins and friends. The family wished to  thank  the pastors and congregations of New Wesley AMEZ Church, Faith Chapel AMEZ Church, Harris Temple AMEZ Church. Relatives & friends are invited to the Visitation on Friday  from 9 to 11 AM at New Wesley AMEZ Church located at 7th & Division in Camden.  A Funeral Service will be celebrated promptly at 11 AM. Interment Morgan Cemetery in Cinnaminson.
