Edilia Gomez O'Hara

Obituary of Edilia Gomez O'Hara

Edilia Gomez O'Hara, age 66 years of Voorhees, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer surrounded by her loving family. Edilia was born on October 15, 1953 in Caracas, Venezuela. Beloved wife of Michael J. O'Hara. Devoted mother of Mayerling Garofalo, Natalie Ayala (Nestor), and Kelly Woodyard (TJ). Loving grandmother of Gianna Palumbi, Lucas Ayala, Marcos Ayala, and Lola Ayala. Dear sister of Ramon Hernandez, Elizabeth de Norma, Manuel Gomez, Deninson Gomez, Robinson Gomez, Henry Gomez, Kenneth Gomez, and Edwin Gomez. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers and friends. Edilia worked for many years as an accountant, after which she found her passion for party and event planning. In her spare time, she enjoyed traditional Venezuelan dancing and was an all star at the gym, never missing a day of working out. Edilia was a practitioner of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism and was a member of Soka Gakkai International. Edilia lived a victorious life and found joy and purpose in helping others. She was very involved in her community and will be missed by all who knew her. Services for Edilia are being held privately due to the current public health crisis caused by COVID19. “If a person is hungry, we should give them bread. When there is no bread, we can least give words that nourish. To a person who looks ill or is physically frail, we can turn the conversation to some subject that will lift their spirits and fill them with the hope and determination to get better. Let us give something to each person we meet: joy, courage, hope, assurance, philosophy, wisdom, a vision for the future. Let us always give something.” -Daisaku Ikeda
