Obituary of Aurora Santiago

Aurora Santiago (nee Ocasio), age 91 years of Camden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Angel Santiago. Devoted mother of Jose A. Santiago, Luz Alicia Santiago, Gladys Santiago, Milagros Santiago-Negron, Antonio Santiago, Minerva Santiago-Velez, Raul Santiago, Sonia Santiago-Morales, Sonia Williams and the late Modesta Santiago. Loving grandmother of 13, great grandmother of 29 and great, great grandmother of 2. Dear sister of the late Maria, Santa, Nicholas and Reyes. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Villalba, Puerto Rico, Aurora came to the United States in 1975. She walked together in faith with the late Father Longo, who befriended her and helped her when she first arrived. Aurora was very active at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Fatima Church in Camden. She volunteered in many ways, cleaning the church, feeding the poor, clothing for the needy, visiting the homes and hospitals of those to sick to pray the rosary with them and doing endless fundraising events. Aurora was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary 3-4 daily. She was a member of the Cursillo de Cristiandad in 1978 and a member of the Sociedad Nuestra Senora de Fatima for over 40 years. Aurora also enjoyed playing dominoes. Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 8:45-9:45 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church, 642 Market Street in Camden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill. Due to current Covid capacity restrictions, we ask that you please pay your respects in a timely manner and limit your stay to allow others to pay their respects. The church has a maximum capacity of no more than 65 people and face masks are required inside the building.
