Richard Miller, Jr.

Obituary of Richard Miller, Jr.

Richard Miller Jr. “Dick”, 71 years of age, passed away suddenly on December 7, 2020. Richard was born September 9, 1949 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Richard and Anna Miller (Panzone). Richard was the oldest of four children. In 1967 He graduated from Evans High School in Orlando Florida. He received a Master’s degree from Burlington County College in construction and held many other certificates including 5 State General Contractors licenses. He began his career as a master builder, building beautiful luxury homes in South Florida. Richard later moved to South Jersey to continue this career. His most recent Job was with Belisle Construction Inc. where he brought his 50 years of building knowledge to build some of the most well known restaurants. His work ethic of doing a project right the first time made him a sought after Project Manager. He was recognized many times for his excellence of completing ahead of schedule and was able to turn over perfectly finished restaurants that were ready to open immediately. His family and close friends remember Richard as a good listener, family centric, excellent cook and his love for all things authentic Americana. He often said that he was so lucky to have grown up in the best era, the fifties. His love of telling stories made him the go to person and the keeper of all family memories. He would often share these moments with his children and grandchildren. He had a way with telling a story, it always started with what car he was driving during that memory which would bring a smile to everyone’s face. Some of Richards’s favorite moments were family reunions, picnics and barbeques with his South Jersey relatives and close family friends. Going “down the shore” and preparing meals of silver queen corn and ripe tomatoes were part of his yearly summer tradition. Richard also loved music. He was an accomplished piano player from the age of 2 years old. His family loved when he would sit down and play for them. He admired the organist Larry Ferrari and Claudia Hirschfeld he always said he wanted to play like them. Richard’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always praised, encouraged, and listened to each of them. He was a person that made time to talk to each one of his children as if they were the most important thing in the world daily. He was a confidant and go to person for any crisis or situation. These qualities that Richard had were something that cannot be replaced and brings the greatest sorrow to his children who deeply grieve his sudden passing. Richard is survived by his 2 children Richard Miller (Abigail), Patricia Miller (Terry) and 2 Step children Marcy Ewing-D’Ambrosio, and Melissa Verdery (Ryan).
