Obituary of Lawrence E. Painter
Lawrence E. "Larry" Painter, age 86 of Pennsauken, passed away on May 29, 2021 at Samaritan Center in Voorhees, New Jersey.
He is the beloved husband of Trudy (nee McCann); devoted father of Lisa McGilloway (Michael) and Stephen Painter (Bonnie); loving grandfather of Michael, Matthew, McCann, Daniel and Samara; Dear brother of Eleanor Wilbur, Sharon Smith (Larry) and the late Ruth Smith, Florence Capri, Nancy Horner, Harvey Painter and Jane Scarano; and brother in law of Linda Lewis (Ken); also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Prior to his retirement, Larry worked as a senior office assistant for PSE&G, retiring after over 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran anda recipient of the Camden County Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Medal. Larry was a 2009 inductee in the Riverside High School Sports Hall of Fame, where he played basketball, baseball and football.
Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council #3512 for 34 years, where he served as Grand Knight and on many committees. He was also a member of the Bishop Eustace Assembly where he served as trustee and was a member of the Color Corp. He was honored with the following awards, Knight of the Year, Sir Knight of the Year and Color Corpman of the Year.
Larry enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles, going out to dinner, playing pinochle, dancing and tending to his vegetable garden. He was very active with the Knights of Columbus and Mary, Queen of All Saints Church and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday at the Church of Mary, Queen of All Saints, 4801 Camden Avenue in Pennsauken. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Samaritan Hospice, 3906 Church Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054 OR to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 4824 Camden Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ 08110.
