Obituary of John J Higgins Sr.

John J. Higgins Sr. of Merchantville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 16, 2023 at 85 years. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Reynolds); Devoted father of John J. (Colleen) Higgins Jr., and Kenneth (Nadia Malik) Higgins; Cherished grandfather of Kyle (Alison) Higgins, Sarah (Alec) Higgins, Sean (Karina) Higgins, Zan Higgins and Zia Higgins; Caring great grandfather of Kane and Cashel Higgins; Predeceased by his brother James Higgins Jr and his parents James L and Anna (nee Murphy) Higgins; Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

John was a proud Air Force Veteran who served from 1958 to 1964. Prior to retirement, he had a long career in life insurance. He started with MetLife in Willingboro. He then later got hired as a District Manager with Kentucky Central in Upper Darby, PA. John finished his career in life insurance as an independent broker. 

John truly loved his car and his boat. He especially enjoyed time at the Ocean City shore with his family spent fishing and boating. He also loved trips with his sons to the mountains. John also was an avid reader and liked to paint. 

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Sunday, February 19th from 1 to 2 PM.  A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1 PM. Final disposition will be private.
