Obituary of Saturnino Ruiz DeJesus
Saturnino “Pepe” Ruiz DeJesus received his wings on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the blessed age of 89. He was born on April 7, 1934 in Patillas, Puerto Rico to the late Julio Ruiz and Asunción DeJesus.
Affectionately known as “Pepe”, he was a God fearing man and a dedicated member of Holy Name Church in Camden for many years where he was a Cursillista, a member of the Holy Name Society, and served as an Usher.
Pepe was a skilled Landscaper. In his younger years, Pepe and his late wife would often work during fundraising dance events in the church hall. He was a hard worker and great cook. Though a man of few words, he was a stern father who provided the necessities for his family. He was a simple man who enjoyed his music, a good game of dominos, making his famous Rabo de Gallo during the holidays, and a shot of Felipe II during any celebration.
He is predeceased by his wife Jesusa, stepson Natividad, grandson Carlito, Jr., his siblings Cristobal, Antonia, Demencio, Tomasa, Lino, Eufemia, Domingo, and Simona. He leaves to cherish his memories—his sons Saturnino “Sat” (Shirley), Julio (Norma), Carlos (Lisa); daughters Ida (Albert), and Maria; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister Rafaela, and a host of family & friends.
