Obituary of Evelyn Soto-Powell

Evelyn Soto-Powell, age 54 years of Collingswood, formerly of Camden, passed away May 19, 2023.

Beloved daughter of Carlos and Blanca Soto. Devoted mother of Alexei Powell and Takia Miller. Loving grandmother of Taytu and Torah. Dear sister of Maritza Perez (Chris Chisholm), Blanca Soto-Aguilar (Juan Aguilar). and Carlos Soto Jr. (Tiffany Tutson). Cherished aunt of Priscilla (Josh Mendez), Orlando Jr., Xianna, and Xavier and great aunt of Peyton and Logan.

Evelyn worked for 20 years at the Department of Children and Families. She was a senior social services aid and loved working with children.

Traveling and visiting the beach were among Evelyn’s favorite pastimes. She enjoyed spending time at casinos, finding excitement in the games and the lively atmosphere. Evelyn also enjoyed spending time at the Poconos, especially the many fire side chats with her family.

Evelyn had a deep admiration for the music of Marc Anthony, whose songs resonated with her. As a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Evelyn cheered for her team with unwavering support.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Evelyn's compassionate nature led her to make a difference in her community. She actively assisted in signing up over 300 individuals to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations, contributing to the health and well-being of those around her.

Evelyn was also a food enthusiast, delighting in fine dining experiences and exploring new culinary delights. Her passion for trying new dishes and visiting restaurants made her a true "foodie." One of her favorites dishes included crab legs with garlic butter sauce. Evelyn was also an excellent cook herself.

Evelyn's warm and caring nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her and may her memory continue to inspire kindness and compassion in our lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 10-11 AM at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Final disposition will take place privately.
