Obituary of Miriam H. Burgin

Miriam H. Burgin (nee Hammell), age 94 of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023.

Beloved wife of the late Earl John Burgin. Devoted mother of Marilyn R. Burgin and Gary R. Burgin (June). Loving grandmother of Abigail L. Burgin and Earl Burgin. Dear sister of the late Ruth M. Stanford, Charles R. Hammell and Everett M. Hammell. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Miriam worked as a secretary to the Business Administrator of Pennsauken Schools and as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Maple Shade from which she retired. Miriam was a member and past president of the Delaware Gardens Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and reading. Miriam was very involved in the school PTA and was also a choir member and Sunday School teacher at four churches. She was a very caring and generous women who took pride in her church work.  Miriam was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past president of the local Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and an active member of the Calvary Community Baptist Church, Bethel United Methodist Church, and Temple Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines, loved animals, especially cats and dogs, dancing, and listening to Glen Miller as well as other 40's music.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10-11 AM at the Temple Lutheran Church, 5600 Route 130 in Pennsauken, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Final disposition will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lida Knaus Food Pantry c/o Temple Lutheran Church at the above address.
