Obituary of Joseph C. McCray, Sr.
Joseph C. McCray, Sr., age 71 years of Camden, passed away on January 14, 2024 at Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly.
Cherished son of the late Anna McCray. Beloved husband of Migdalia (nee Mateo) for 43 years. Devoted father of Joseph C. McCray, Jr. (Evelyn) and Suncerae McCray. Loving grandfather of Christopher and Xavier. Dear brother of Mabel Starling, Josanna McCray, Mel Young and the late Kevin McCray. Caring nephew of Arlean Thomas (Charles). Also survived by lifelong best friends, Kathy Lofland and Yvonne Harris as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Prior to retirement in 2010, Joseph was a police officer with the Camden City Police Department for 27 years, retiring as a Sergeant. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Iota Gamma Chapter and a die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. Joseph will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 9-11 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
