Obituary of Lilla M. DiStanislao

Lilla M. DiStanislao (nee Melchionni), age 99 of Haddonfield, formerly of Cherry Hill, passed away at her home on October 20, 2024.  She was born in Camden, New Jersey on September 29, 1925 to the late Pierino and Maria (Nee Carpani) Melchionni.

She is the beloved wife of 65 years of the late Joseph V.; devoted mother of Mary A. (Rachel Kenyon), Joseph G. (David Killian) and Robert P. DiStanislao; dear sister of the late William (Marguerite) Melchionni, Bruno (Rose) Melchionni and Ines (Remo) Palombo.  She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Lilla loved life and lived a life of service.  She worked for Catholic Charities in its early years.  There she met the Little Sister Servants who were building St Mary’s Home.  She volunteered there until she was ninety.  She was also a volunteer for the United Way, Conquer Cancer and the Friends of the Opera Company of Philadelphia.  She was also a Eucharistic Minister with St. Mary's Catholic Home and St. Pius X Church in Cherry Hill.  Her home was always open to family and friends.  She will be missed.  

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Thursday, October 24 from 6 to 8 PM at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 344 Kresson Road in Cherry Hill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, October 25.  Entombment will follow at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Catholic Charities, 1845 Haddon Avenue, Camden, NJ 08103
