Age 77 years. Beloved wife of John A. for 61 years. Devoted mother of John R., Yvonne Martinez-Vega (David), Elva Vazquez (Tony), Manuel (Maritza) and Anthony (Marino Gonzalez). Loving grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 12. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Martinez was employed as a social worker/supervisor for the City of Camden Youth Services for 27 years. She was a social and civil rights activist in the City of Camden who fought passionately for the rights of minorities and children. Mrs. Martinez received numerous awards and accolades during her lifetime. She was an active and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Fatima Church in Camden. Mrs. Martinez enjoyed bowling, going to the casinos and playing bingo and her favorite proverbial saying which family and friends will always remember her by is "I wish I was rich instead of beautiful." Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Rd. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 642 Market St in Camden. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
