I still have the white and pink peppermint candy hearts(it's been in the fridge) he made for us to give out at the birth of our daughter 36 years ago. Also the candy canes I hooked to give to my school children back in the 70's and the walking stick canes for our niece and nephews. He will be missed!

Rest in Peace "Mr.Aunt Charlotte". I remember when you got your new Heart Valve,30 or 40 years ago,and you said to me," Doc listen to this clickety-clack of my heart" or some similar words. You did well all these years in order to make people happy. You won't be forgotten.

I am so saddened by this news. Mr Oakford and his wife knew me as the candy cigarette girl. They always were so kind and sweet to me. When they found out that I was going away to college in the fall of 2003, they wrapped me up a care package of candy cigarettes to take with me. I will miss his kindness andsmiling face dearly! God Bless your family may the memories bring a celebration of a life well lived.

It was a beautiful thing watching Bud and his sea gull friend that would return daily for bits of bread on 88th street in Stone Harbor. There was an unussual trust there and the bird would come right up to him knowing he was safe. I'll never forget that.

I am so sad to hear this news! My deepest sympathy to the Oakford family. I have such wonderful childhood memories of going to Aunt Charolettes when it was first on Center Street, then moved to the new location. I would always walk there and buy delicious candy, remembering Mr. Oakford giving out dollar bills. He was friends with my parents Harriet and Bob Serfling. Prayers to the family as he will be deeply missed.

My mother used to take me in there when I was a little girl. She went through school with Mr. Oakford. He even took me through a tour of the place where he made the candy. I remember going there after my mother passed away and he was always so nice to me. I loved when he would toss the dollar bills down and make you call heads or tails. It didn't matter if I ever got it right, he would always give me the dollar bill anyway. He will be sadly missed. RIP Mr. Oakford, I hope they have a place where you can make your candy in heaven. <3

As a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville I remember many happy events attended by the Oakford family. No holiday passed without stopping into the store for treats and decorative accessories that are heirlooms to us. Brooks will long be remembered for his devotion to his family, fire company, business and church. I love hearing Charlie say that every time the fire siren went off, so did Brooks apron so that he would be among the first at the station. Charlie tells me that he was well regarded by fire companies throughout the county for his hard work and generosity. We extend our sincere sympathy to his loving family and associates as thy gather to reflect on a life well lived. He will long be remembered by every customer who encountered his wonderful smile when they visited Aunt Charlottes. It is a wonderful legacy to be remembered with a smile by all who knew him. In Christian love, Charlie and Peggy Strickland Cunane

We extend our sincere condolences to the loving family of a warm generous and talented gentleman. I have life long memories of attending church with the Oakfords. Charlie knew Brooks for decades through his volunteer service to the Niagara fire company. When the fire siren went off so did his apron as he rushed to be among the first to fight fires in town. He was well respected by fire companies throughout the county for his dedication and generosity. Every holiday included visits to the store for handmade candy and decorative holiday accessories that we think of as heirlooms. As his family and associates gather to celebrate a life well lived, we say a prayer for blessing for his family as they mourn a man with a huge heart and an even bigger smile. In Christian love, Charlie and Peggy Strickland Cunane
