John will be greatly missed by those of us who knew him well. He was always kind and considerate and really cared for others all of his life. John & I grew up together and had the best friendship, through Grammer school, Junior & Senior High school. John was very intelligent and was always seeking knowledge. I remember the time he was mixing chemicals, in his room upstairs, and poured it out the window, eating away the paint on the whole side of the house. His father chased him around the yard and then punished him. I remember I laughed so hard at that scene. I have so many other memories of John, and what we meant to each other, most of our lives. He and his sister, Mary, were really great neighbors. I feel really blessed that I had such wonderful neighbors to associate with. We lost touch, for quite awhile, because I went into nursing school, the Air Force (where I was stationed in California) &, then, I moved to Florida, in 1974. I am so blessed that I got to see John at our high reunion, last April. He did not look well then and I was worried about him. But , he kept trying to assure me that he was just weak, from a car accident. He never told me he was suffering from cancer. Being a nurse, I knew he was trying to spare me, by not telling me. That's just the kind of guy John was. He and Gray sent me homemade cookies, at Christmas. I was so thrilled by that. Gray....may God give you the strength to get through the loss of John. I will be thinking of you, and will pray for you. God Bless You, Gray.
