Obituary of Richard Luongo

Richard Luongo of Oaklyn, formerly of Jersey City passed away on July 9, 2015; 72 years at JFK Hospital in Cherry Hill. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Bosak) for 46 years; Devoted father of Richard (Lisa), Eric (Cyndi), Jennie (Brian) Berryhill; Loving grandfather of Frankie, Gianna, Charlotte, Cecelia, Emma and Zach; Dear brother of David & Albert and the lates Marie, Angela and Joseph; Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Prior to retirement, Richard worked as a journalist, writer and editor for many large newspapers. In his early career, he worked in New York with Discount Store News & Restaurant News. Later in his career he moved from North Jersey down to Southern Jersey where he worked for the Courier Post, Retrospect, and most recently the Star Herald. He had a true love and passion of reading, his favorite authors included Hemmingway, Ludlum, and Stephen King. Richard also loved to watch the BBC network and was a big fan of classic car shows. Richard always had a dunkin donut coffee in hand; his two favorite flavors were the pumpkin spice and hazelnut. He also was a true chef and especially enjoyed baking. But of all his hobbies and passions, his true love was being with family, whether it was family dinners or just being together, it was what made him smile and of course being surrounded by his precious grandchildren. Relatives & friends are invited the Visitation & funeral on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the Falco CARUSO & Leonard Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning RD in Pennsauken. A funeral service will be celebrated at 7PM. Final disposition private. In lieu of flowers, please make contribution's to the family to help with expenses.
