Obituary of Giovanna Pullella
Giovanna Pullella (nee Virdiglione), at age 87, passed into the Lord's Arms on Saturday morning, July 11, 2015 in her home in Haddon Township, surrounded by her beloved husband and family. She is at Peace after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Giovanna & Francesco immigrated to the United States on February 21, 1956 with three children, in pursuit of the "American Dream", which began with a convenient store in Camden and together they established Genova Pizza in Audubon, NJ and Genova Pizza on the Boardwalk in Wildwood NJ for 30 years. A devout Catholic, she actively attended daily mass while her health permitted. Throughout her life, she always placed her family first, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a large extended family.
She will be sadly missed, although will always remain an inspiration to her beloved husband Francesco of 67 years and her surviving children, Saba, D. Anthony (Isabella), Maria (Joseph), G. Janie, Frank, and Peter (Lena), and grandchildren, Jennifer (Will) , Shannon (Jeff), Sabrina, Nina, Christina (Jimmy), Saba Jr., Tony Jr., Francesco, Savannah, Mia, Gianna and Stefano, and five great grandchildren. Also beloved are her remaining sisters who reside in Italy, Anna, Francescina and Rosaria.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Thursday, July 16 from 10 AM at the Parish of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, Church of the Holy Saviour, 50 Emerald Avenue in Westmont, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
