Obituary of Elizabeth Smetona

Elizabeth "Betsey" G. Smetona (nee Fitzgerald), age 60 of Haddon Heights, NJ. Born on June 25, 1955, Betsey passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday, August 31st, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro, New Jersey. Wife of Joseph Smetona for 34 years. Loving mother of Matthew (Susan), Michael, Megan, and Melanie. Grandmother of Elliot Smetona. First born daughter of Elizabeth "Betty" Fitzgerald and the late Eugene Fitzgerald. Loving Sister of Barbara Gale (the late Owen), Richard, Edward (Judy), Michael, Stephen (Jennifer), and the late Eugene Jr. (wife June) and Dennis. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. Betsey worked passionately with children as a kindergarten teacher's aide at the Haviland and Mansion Avenue Elementary Schools in Audubon, NJ from 1999 - 2008. Betsey volunteered at Larc School of Bellmawr, NJ and Bancroft School in Haddonfield, NJ. She selflessly helped families in support of helping their special needs children in their education, skills, and being able to thrive in the community. Visitation will be held at Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 North Browning Road on Wednesday from 7:00-9:00pm and Thursday from 9:00-10:00am, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to the Smetona Children, for their future, under the conservator-ship of Michael H. Fitzgerald, 330 South 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
